Avernum 2 is a single-player RPG released in 2015. It has an old school look and feel to it because of the Diablo-style pixel graphics and click-to-move controls. The UI's background looks like some sort of cross between marble and paper which gives it a unique look while sticking with that old-school style.
One thing I liked was the combat. Although you can just click on an enemy to move to them and attack, I often find myself blocking my melee heroes from the enemy. The good news is you can swap positions with an adjacent ally. This is nice to get your melee fighters into the fray but it's even nicer to get your team members out of danger.
One thing I didn't like is the use of the UI. I felt like I had to open my inventory in every room to check if there's something on the ground worth picking up. I also thought that it would have been more useful to have a "spellbook" button and then change the content of the spellbook based on the character you have selected (both in and out of combat). I often found myself accidentally trying to open the Priest spellbook when I had my Mage selected and then get an error saying I can't do that.
